Lightphoria happy light

Day four of the light treatment and I am pleasantly surprised.  Not only have my eyes stopped becoming irritated during the final moments of application, I am falling asleep at a normal time (11PM-ish) and am able wake up faster and at a good time.  Today is Saturday and I actually GOT UP at 8:30, whereas ordinarily I can sleep until 1PM.  It's especially easy when one doesn't get to sleep until 2 or 3 AM.  Anyway, I set the alarm for 8AM but treated myself to half hour extra snoozie. And I actually had the will to get up!  I just can't believe it.

At the office I set the timer to 2 or 3 sets of 15 minutes at the high setting, and switch the unit to both sides of the desk.  The most challenging part of the treatment at this point is listening to the jokes made by my coworkers. "Why the interrogation lamp? Trying to find out something you did?" And "Mr. DeMille!  She's ready for her close-up!"  But who cares about them. My productivity is increasing and so is my sleep.  I am chipper!  Jokes leave my lips faster and I feel less like sitting and more like doing things (which is a mini-miracle, if you ask me.)  I also stream white noise from an app on my EVO 3D (Sleepy Time, Lite version... free) and that helps too.

Quick cute story -- the first time I turned on the app I was alone in my bed and about to try the sounds.  With the speaker set at 100% I naturally chose purring first.  Out of nowhere comes Butchie, galloping as if he had just found his real mommy.  He leapt onto the bed and rubbed his face so hard again the phone I dropped it. What a little pea brain.  I felt like I was tricking him, so I changed the sound.  But how cute is that??!!

Anyway, back to the Lightphoria Sphere. Technically it's described as a SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) light, but that name brings me down so I just call it my happy light instead. The best thing about it is that it gives off so much brightness without heat due to the LED bulbs, which is fantastic when it's too warm in the office.  It's a bright white light.  It comes with a cute carrying case too, so you can use it on vacation or at the office like I do. Choose low (5,000 lux), medium (8,000 lux), or high (10,000 lux).  Use it no more than two feet away from your eyes, but don't look directly into the light.  Read the directions and don't use close to bedtime. I am so glad I asked for this for Chanukah! And especially glad my parents did their research.

Also, it's hardly scientific, but my complexion (and dark circles) seem to have improved.  Whether that's due to the light itself or proper sleep I don't know, but I am certainly not complaining!  Mo' beauty, mo' better!

Interesting! I'm glad that's working out for you. I've been sleeping more myself because of feeling better/less stressed and my unscientific theory is that it's due to my new SDILC (stop dating idiots, liars, and creeps) strategy. Unfortunately, to implement this I had to stop dating completely, oh well! :)

The SDILC System is a harsh one, but we will both find the right guys for us.

Anyway, so far this light stuff does work and I'm quite pleased. I will be posting about The Year of the Duck soon! Stay tuned!
